Nadia Ellery, Owner & Lead Designer
I started Ellery ADU Studio in 2015 after watching a client in Rancho Cucamonga pay twice for the same garage conversion - once for drawings, again when the builder redid them because the designer had never pulled a permit. I hold a California contractor’s license and spent my first four years in the field before I ever opened CAD. These days I split time between site walks in Hesperia and design review at our studio. I keep a running list of every San Bernardino County plan checker’s pet peeve; the current leader is “insufficient egress dimension notation,” which one checker flags 100% of the time. I still visit every active job at least twice.
Marcus T., Senior Installer & Site Lead
Marcus has been running concrete and framing crews in the High Desert since 2012, which means he’s built through Santa Ana winds, 118-degree July pours, and that one February when it actually snowed on a Hesperia slab pour. He’s certified in CalGreen Tier 1 construction and handles all our utility tie-in coordination with Hesperia Public Works. Off the clock, he restores vintage motorcycles and applies the same tolerance-for-no-tolerance to crankcase alignment that he does to wall plumb. Dana came to us from the San Bernardino County Building & Safety counter, so she speaks plan checker as a first language. She handles our Hesperia permit submissions, revision responses, and inspection scheduling - the invisible machinery that keeps a 90-day project from becoming a nine-month odyssey. She’s completed the ICC Residential Building Inspector certification and knows which inspectors want the smoke detector locations flagged on the floor plan versus the electrical plan. She also bakes aggressively for the office and uses a color-coded spreadsheet to track whose birthday is whose.
Jesse K., Apprentice Installer
Jesse joined us in 2023 after two years in residential HVAC and a brief, self-described “disastrous” attempt at coding bootcamp. He’s working through his California contractor’s license coursework and currently handles demo, rough utility prep, and the meticulous photo documentation we send to every client after each visit. He’s the reason our photo records actually show the rebar spacing, not just the general vibe of the trench. He lives in Oak Hills and has strong opinions about the best breakfast burrito in the Victor Valley, which he will share unsolicited.
